The 23 things

I have to start this post off with saying that I loved doing the 23 things exercise. While it may have consumed a lot of time at no point was it time wasted. Of all the exercises I would have to say the ones that concerned graphic images and their manipulation were the ones that kept my attention and wanted me to do more with. To take a photograph you have taken yourself and turn it into art was enjoyable and took the image to new boundaries.

One of the biggest things for me about this exercise was that I learned new things. As a technical person who's day to day job is computers and everything related I was surprised about how much I did not know about and how much I learned from the class and I have to say that it was well worth it. From here I look at how I will teach after this exercise and I feel that it has enabled me to have the knowledge that will be useful in teaching and my career as a teacher if it comes to that.

AS I continue to look forward I have my eyes more widely open and I will look more to web 2.0 tools to do tasks that I would not have otherwise thought about. Overall an enjoyable time.

Thing #23

Creative commons.

So we looked at copyright and the main question was was there reference to a source for what 23 things was based on. Yup I found it and I was evil enough to screenshot it and add it to this post.

I have to give rights to Dr Anne Wall for this image as it was her website that I took it from and in turn I then have to give rights to 43 thing *grin*. All in the name of justice.

PodCasts

Well I have to admit I have not looked at podcasts at all and what I thought podcasts were I was totally wrong. I ended up finding a "techie" podcast that is giving information that will be useful to those that work on computers (and those that need to). The podcast I checked out was "I do windows" and as the name suggests it is all about Microsoft windows and the issues it has and how to resolve them. I pulled this from podcastdirectory.com and I would have to say that of all the directories we looked at this was the one I liked the most. The structure for finding the podcasts was logical and allowed you to drill down to what you need.

At this time I have not decided if I want to subscribe to this podcast. While the information is useful I don't really have the available time to keep up with it and most of the information provided is stuff that I already know. To have to sit though a 10-15 cast just for a 30 second snippet is something I will not do *grin*. Again due to lack of time I don't see myself making a podcast. Perhaps in the Summer I may revisit this thought but for now I know I don't have time.

Ok thats me for now.

ANIMOTO

I LOVE ANIMOTO. ok I said it, I have been mildly impressed with a lot of the Web 2.0 tools but this is the first that made me smile. Its simple, its easy and its fun. I want to do more for myself, I want to pay for the full service (if my cheapness can be won over). To top it off it even has a post on your blog feature. All I had to do was give my details and BAM I now have it as the last post, the only thing I would add to their interface is the ability to add some text also. A mild complain in an otherwise excellent site. Animoto you have me happymoto.

Thing #20

So we get to look at YouTube. What can I say I love You Tube, the only problem is that when something gets popular on it you end up not being able to find what you are looking for. I originally wanted to post the Algorithm march with ninjas, the original version that made the algorithm march so successful. I couldn't find it which annoyed me. In the post below you will find one of my other favorite things, prisoners in the Philippines doing thriller. It makes me laugh *grin* .

I think the one feature of this site that would improve the library would have to be the auto sensing feature that looks at your history and tries to cater books that are similar. It would be a useful feature that might help students as they look for sources for papers.
